3 Reasons You Should Pray Every Night

I did a recent poll about the power of prayer and what the benefits are for you. The response was overwhelming, and I’ll share some of the quotes throughout this blog. The underlying message from everyone who responded is they feel peace of mind, supported and heard. They do not feel alone.  These are persuasive reasons that you should pray every night.

“Prayer quiets and centers my mind and soul which allows the solutions to come to me.” – Barbara A.

Here are three reasons why it’s important to pray before your head hits the pillow:

3 Reasons You Should Pray Every Night

Reason 1: Prayer gives you the opportunity to reflect on your day and express gratitude and appreciation for your life.

Bedtime is the perfect time of day to look back on your day and count your blessings. By praying at bedtime allows you to stop and think about all the things that happened to you during the day, and take those moments to feel the gratitude and appreciation for all the little moments. Those are the moments where your joy can be found.

“I pray and it absolutely helps! The benefits are too many to list, but among them are peace in my heart, comfort when I need it, direction when I ask for it, clarity, hope, perspective, patience, increased faith, and most important for me, drawing closer to the Lord. I pray all the time… it’s more of an ongoing conversation than a structured and formal prayer.” – Vivienne W.

Reason 2: Prayer gives you the chance to focus on what matters most to you.

With the busy life you lead, you can get caught up in the stress and anxiety throughout the day. By pausing and giving yourself a chance to pause and breathe, you get the opportunity to look at what is and isn’t that important to you. Let go of anything that caused you to get upset. Look for the gift in that experience, because there IS one there. Ask for guidance and understanding and trust that the answers will come.

“Praying resets my heart and mind on the things of utmost importance. It keeps me humble, it strengthens me, it blesses me.” – Emily S.

Reason 3: Prayer keeps you connected to your source.

You are not alone, but sometimes it can feel that way. By praying every night, it gives you that chance to feel loved and supported every single day. That is something we all need to feel on a daily basis. When you take the time to pray at night, you’re setting yourself up for a good night’s rest. You can ask for answers in your dreams and then look for them! Ask for your answers because they always come… always!

“I pray quite often. When I ask for help, guidance, God to watch over me or to keep a strong hand on my shoulder. I know I’ve been heard. My prayers are answered in different ways and I see signs all over, showing me that I was listened to. It’s hard to explain, but feelings are strong and I’m blessed from experiences and knowing there is a higher power watching over me. I feel at ease after I say a prayer.” – Tamara T.

One last suggestion…when you pray, try praying aloud, then sit quietly and listen for the answers. Personally, I’ve noticed that the more vocal I am, the quicker my answers come. So, give it a try if it’s not something you’re used to doing.

Quote: “True prayer is neither a mere mental exercise nor a vocal performance. It is far deeper than that – it is spiritual transaction with the Creator of Heaven and Earth.” – Charles Spurgeon
