Your education doesn’t end once you get your degree. Experience teaches far greater than anything else you could read or hear. All the lessons I learned in my life, whether it be related to relationships, parenting, my health and wellness, my career, you name it … have come from me applying myself. When we try, we learn, even if we fail. In fact, the greatest lessons and learning happens from our failures.
Here are three reasons why you need to never stop learning:
It keeps your brain alive and active
Our brain is a muscle. And like the muscles in our body, if we don’t work them they get weak and flabby. The same thing will happen to your brain. It’s important to keep developing and growing your brain. In fact, scientists have discovered neuroplasticity, which means our brains actually have the capacity to continue to grow and expand and generate even more cells. That’s contrary to what we grew up believing that our mind and our memory was decreasing with age. That’s really exciting news. So it’s important to keep learning in order to keep your brain and your mind growing.
Don’t be a know it all
Every person you meet, every book you read, every conversation you have, those are all opportunities to look for a learning moment. It doesn’t matter if it’s something that you’ve heard before. Sometimes, we need to hear things over and over again because you never know when the one time you hear it that you’ll hear something unique and different added and that’ll be the one piece of information that creates a powerful idea for you. The only way that’s going to happen is if you keep your mind open instead of closed when you’re hearing something, speaking to someone, or reading something, whether it’s something you’re familiar with or not. The key is to keep an open mind and be receptive to receiving whatever the lesson or the message is.
You’ll never know everything
In this infinite, abundant, limitless universe we live in. Things are always changing, growing, expanding. Scientists have barely even begun to scratch the surface about what they know about the human body, the human mind, and our incredible universe. And because this is a limitless universe, there’s always more to learn. Things are constantly changing and evolving. There’ll always be more to discover. So, the reality is we’ll never know everything and there’ll always be more to learn. That’s why it’s so important and so much fun to keep on learning.
Step into the classroom of your life and keep an open-minded, childlike curiosity about yourself. It doesn’t matter what your education level was, as long as you keep learning, you’ll keep growing. And that’s a good thing.
